Nope, there is no purple/blue wire in that bundle - black plug with purple latch. However, there is a purple/blue wire in the black plug with red latch that is right below it ... I tried connecting the black/white wire to the purple/blue one that i found in the lower plug, but still nothing. I know that both these plugs effect central locking because if either of them are disconnected, central locking doesn't work. I left the white wire connected to the white/green wire in the upper plug...

Oh, and grounded wires are taped a peice of body that is located near the whole compartment (its grounded, i'm sure of it). The red (positive) i've connected to fat red wire that is to the right of the middle (the one that is in the plug with the fat pink wire). I connected the positive wire to the metal bit, and taped it up. I checked to see it was getting power by pointing the live wire thingy at the red wire on the rcl kit's end and it detected power ... I don't know if this is the right source of power, I am pretty much out of idea's. :( I really wanna get this done cos electronics always end up owning me and biting me in the ass :bang: Hopefully not this time!!

(Thanks again lol)

Alright well that's a shame.... from memory I'm pretty sure I had that wire (mine is a 2003 52 so should be the same as yours). All I can say is if you give me a week I'll be home and I'll have a look at what's connected to what. Sorry not much else I can do :(

by the way it took me and a mate about 3 whole days to get mine done :D

Remote Central Locking *still struggling*

Hello everyone! It's me again, about 2 weeks on and I still haven't managed to fit my RCL kit :( I even managed to acquire a haynes manual, but I am still clueless!

So I'm just going to try one last time and see if I can get anywhere with this, if I don't, then I'm just going to give up and let all the wiring remain all shoved into the fuse area next to drivers knee like it has been for the past few weeks... (n)

Okay, I got all these diagrams to show to help my quest of entering my car with ultimate lazyness.. I'm going to post all the diagrams I have so they are all in one place (so sorry for people with slow connection...)

This diagram is the actual RCL kit diagram that came with the kit.

This is another diagram that also came with the kit showing you how to wire it... (wish I knew how though... )

This diagram is a scan I took from my haynes manual - It's for a Punto mk2 1.2 8v V reg onwards to 03 plate - '03 1.2 8v mk2 being my model (if peoples need to know that).

Finally, just because I have this picture, I'll post it so it might help a little bit.

There, finally!
I hope you guys can maybe help me this one last time, I got the haynes diagram but I don't understand it. So that led me to believe that the answer might lay in that very diagram but I'm too stupid to understand it! :bang:

Anyways, thanks to anyone that actually bothers to help me - you rule :)

Re: Remote Central Locking *still struggling*

Hello,

What mark punto do you own? Mark1, Mark2 etc.?

As i have a mark1 (see sig) and simply replaced a relay in the glove box, if it isnt a mark1 Punto then i suggest you search the website for "remote central locking" as you should fine some help from others in the same situation.

If you do have a mk1 Punto then check out this fiat remote central locking kit (The Meta M20) http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms/meta/meta-m20.html

I know you have already purchased one but they go for about £40 on eBay
take a look at these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1498&item=5779404125&rd=1
or
(ending soon): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1498&item=5778018050&rd=1

You sometimes see a slightly more complicated one on eBay for the mark2 Puntos.

A mark2 example is below:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10382&item=4552954463&rd=1

Sorry if i have completely droned on about a load of dribble and if its off the topic, but i have suggested the way i did it, simply pop this one relay out

Hope to hear more soon,

Matt

Re: Remote Central Locking *still struggling*

Thanks for your reply man, I made a post a couple of weeks ago about this
https://www.fiatforum.com/showthread.php?t=31161

I have a mark 2 1.2 8v punto '03 model. Reason I decided to bring it up again is because this time I have the haynes wiring diagram so I thought I'd be able to get some help from someone who knows how to read it :)

Re: Remote Central Locking *still struggling*

Never gonna get this thing installed. Got to resort to paying someone outrageous prices to do it, and there goes the thought of getting something done myself :\

Thanks anyway guys

Re: Remote Central Locking *still struggling*

I thought you'd done it and dissappeared. I offered to look it up for you but you didn't reply so I thought you'd gone. Missed your chance now cos I'm back at uni now for another couple of weeks.

Sorry but I assumed you didn't want to know any more. (n)

Re: Remote Central Locking *still struggling*

OK well this time as soon as I'm home I'll look up which wires exactly I've got connected to what and post it up. But I'm not home for another week or maybe two I'm afraid.

It's not even gauranteed to solve the problem of course since mine is a different kit to yours, but it must help I would have thought.

Best thing is go to a Fiat dealer and ASK for help, most DET's will be able to give you the meta instructions for cdl which would be easily adapted to your set up. The problem with giving advice on vehicle wiring is that the wire colours are rarely the same from vehicle to vehicle, (there are about 7 different looms for the punto dash). Dealers use pin position in connectors more than colour of wire to identify correct connections. Contact your dealer in person and ask the DET for help. Take the car as he may need to look at it.

Okay I just got back from Fiat, they gave me the 'official' wiring. It's basically the same as what I posted above, its just layed out differently. All the pin numbers and wiring colours seem to be identical..

I remember reading this somewhere, am I right that the locking wire will show +12v when the doors are locked, and -12v when the doors are unlocked.
And the unlocking wire will show +12v when the doors are unlocked, and -12v when the doors are locked, etc...?

Forgive me if that seems stupid but I read it on another forum, was wondering if it was true?

Well not sure if you've already got it working or not but just had a look at my wiring and here's what I've got it all wired up to - this is a 2003 52Reg Active so should be exactly the same as yours I would have thought.

Power wire (Your red) - Goes to large (6mm) cable which is white with a red stripe, this wire is leading up to the ignition barrel.

Negative wire (Your black) - Attached to bodywork, along with 2 others which on my instructions it says to ground if using a negative signal system, which we are.

Locking wire (Your White)- goes to the Green and white wire out of the 40 way connector at the bottom of the fusebox.

Unlocking Wire (Your White/Black) - goes to the Blue and Purple wire out of the same connector.

The two indicator wires (Your blue) go to a pink wire and a pink and white wire, also on that connector.

That's it. That's everything mine is wired to and what it is wired to. So if you still can't get it working after all that then it's probably a broken control unit. That's all I can do, hope it helps.

Remember that your yellow and yellow/black wires probably need to be earthed someplace alongside the negative wire. like I was talking about in post 4.

Thanks man, any idea if the whole thing wouldn't work if I got say 1 wire wrong? Like say if I even got the locking wire wrong, but the rest was correct - would it stop the whole thing from functioning? ie the unlocking function.

Well the indicators are independant so it will certainly work without them, other than that I'd think it all needs to be connected right.

Just would like to add that if anybody is considering doing this and would like any help...my mate that fitted mine will gladly give any advise needed! Mine works perfectly! :)

Sorry to re-open an old thread. But thanks to these guys I was able to wire up my remote central locking gizmo. Except for the electric window wire. Thanks guys.
