Just been watching the news and was surprised how many people have not even registered to vote.
Many were saying they don't understand politics so don't vote.
So here is politics made simple

Are you happy with the way the country has been run for the last 10 years?
If so vote for the people running it now

A you unhappy with the way the country has been run for the last 10 years?
If so vote for anyone else.

DEAD LINE TO REGISTER TO VOTE IS TOMORROW

Think yourselves lucky you live in a county were YOU ARE ALLOWED TO VOTE, register and use it!

If people say they don't understand politics, like so many of the evolutionary deadbeats the interviewers so easily find, then they certainly should not vote. Politics really isn't difficult to understand if you have an even slightly higher than manky cheese IQ, but that doesn't mean it's easy, or indeed possible to find anybody worth voting for. Elections are not for getting the best people, these have long since given up on government, both national and local, it's about trying to avoid the very worst idiots, like Greens, Socialists, Communists ( all the same).

The electorate wants endless free stuff: assorted benefits, school meals, non-sick leave, free time to have as many subsidised babies as they like, and free housing if they can't find any dimwit man to marry them and help provide a home. Have babies by different men and you win a house with lots of bedrooms too. That's good for the future of a powerful, industrious nation!

But for decent people who work, try to provide for themselves and plan their lives responsibly politics has no answer. These people are just to be taxed to feed the p:ROFLMAO:igate and lazy.

Of course it won't last. The 'wealth' of Britain is a chimera and when the reality is recognised by world markets the whole feed me, house me, make me well, take care of my children, take care of my parents, give me a stupid worthless degree for arseing about with beauty or something equally pathetic, give me money for
doing what I should be responsible for myself, and generally give me someone else's money for f***- all in fact. Finally, when this selling of votes is recognised for the dead end it is, then, finally, the never ever criticise me or I'll cry cry cry culture of take take take and bo-hoo-hoo and gimme gimme gimme, will collapse.

I have met many with this view who's life then changes and they are out of work with kids to feed and suddenly they find out that this free life they have read about does not exist, its all propaganda by the rich so you don't notice its them that is robbing the country

What ever you think register to vote and make a choice and vote, that is the important thing.
The French who can't decide or want to protest they don't feel they have a choice among the people standing at least make the effort of turning out and leaving the vote blank as a protest.
We are all incredibly fortunate in the UK not to be living under dictatorship.
People die trying to gain the right to vote.
People have died so we can vote and more people died during 2 world wars to keep that freedom.
Register and turn out which ever way you vote or even leave vote blank.

Now all we need is national anthem as good as the Marseillaise , Vive la England.

This thread started encouraging people to vote , which is admirable .
Let's keep it that way.

too right but you always get these ill informed media brainwashed idiots who fall for the crap set to divide people.

they are the same people who think if people are disabled they don't work and live off benefits

Stop it instantly (said kindly) don't lower yourself .
You started this post with great intention , keep up good work .

Come on people vote vote vote.
Or turn up at the very least and return a protest blank vote.

Vive la England.

Gotta love the irony in that statement, let's look to France for a lesson in patriotism, then use a French slogan to be more British lmao.

That said France has all the same problems we do, though at least they look after their students and elderly and don't keep trying to privatise their NHS every second of every day.

I'm with dave on this one, the free life people believe exists in this country is very much a myth about 2.5 million claim incapacity benefits in the uk and that includes all those people with severe learning disabilities, all those with severe physical problems like loss of limb or crippling arthritis, it also pays out for all those people with severe mental health problems including those in hospitals and with illnesses like psychosis and schizophrenia. It doesn't include elderly or children

It's about 3.5% of the population.

Would you want all those people in work or forced to work.

Now considering the amount that incapacity benefits claimants get paid in a month, wouldn't cover my monthly fuel bill, let alone run a house hold, I can't really begrudge people £100 a week.

That said the government spend way more policing the system than they do paying the benefits so if they just paid out to those who claim including those who really don't deserve it, it would likely work out cheaper for the country, but then you encourage problems. So really what we have at the moment works reasonably well, there are the few who get away with playing the system but it's not like they live in mansions with a Bentley on the drive and their own personal chef. Eventually the system will catch up with them and they face heavy fines or jail, so it's really not going to upset me too much. What's probably more upsetting is the people with the severe problems being expected to get buy on less money than some people pay for their weekly salon bill, and having to live off hand outs from food banks and make choices between keeping warm, or feeding their children.

The current system, its worth noting is evolved out of both labour and conservative governments, and yes there is always room to improve these things but it's like anything you have to find the faults and make the mistakes to fix them if everything just worked we wouldn't need elections and governments and would all live in peace and harmony, which let's face it is never going to happen.

My comment was meant to be ironic and totally in fun.
My comments were not intended to be patriotic but if readers take patriotism as setting an example of doing the morally right things even if difficult and we have do to so solo then ok.
Dave started this thread as a way of encouraging people to vote.
This is very admirable and good.
I have strong views about the comments made but haven't aired them because the point surely is to enfranchise people.
Vote people.
Turn out.

Just to restate , my post about the French was intended as a positive view of democracy and voting, NOT for a lesson in patriotism. That to me is a whole other matter entirely.

Good man , I was aiming for funny,
Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

On grounds that it is wildly off topic and you can no longer register to vote for today's election.
