OK - any comments welcome.....a '96 Bravo SX 1.4.
Replaced the battery, after 'issues' with the old one. The car turns over, straining for power, starts - squeals and shudders and dies again.
Even the new batter can't keep it running.
What do we think...alternator ??

Thanks !!

i'd look at other causes as the 'jumper' cars battery would keep her going.whats the background of the car,did this just happen or build up and any work been done lately.does the battery light go off for the short time it runs.what were the previous oissues?

This seemed to happen overnight!
I'm not so concerned about the battery itself - it has the power to turn the engine over. But even if the engine starts & runs, it sqeals badly and cuts out after 10 seconds or so

Hi,
Not being funny but has it got any oil in it?

Could also be a collapsed bearing. Dis the batt neg, take the plugs out and see if you can turn the engine by hand.
