Hi all,

I've got a 2000 1.9 JTD Punto. It's driving fine, apart from a slight stutter when revving above 3,000rpm.

I've now got a red light on my dash which is like a square box with a tap on the top, which I think means I have a problem with my air flow? I could be wrong, hence I'm asking!

I'm thinking I probably need to replace the air flow meter or sensor, would I be right in thinking this?

If so does anyone have a how to guide?

I had a similar problem on my Alfa and replacing the MAF cured the problem and I managed to do it myself following a guide.

Thanks in advance.

Hi mate,

You can try disconecting the MAF first, and run it with it disconnected. IF the fault goes away then it is liekly to be your MAF at fault. HOWEVER, there are several other things that could be causing the symptoms you are getting.

MAP sensors failing are common, along with sticking egr valves and boost solonoids.

HERE is a guide to replacing/ cleaning/ testing the MAF sensor anyway.

Hope that helps,
Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks for this.

I've just had a look in the manual to identify the light which I have on and it's the Injection System Failure light, could the fault still be the MAF?

Thanks.
