Technical rear windscreen wiper

Hello there, I am new to this site but was wondering if anyone could help.
I have a W reg Punto and at one point if you turned on the rear wiper the only way to stop it was to turn off the engine. I took the panel off today to have a look at the motor and check the conections and after a bit of wiggling of wires I thought I had cracked it. I put the panel back on and now it's worse as it won't turn off even after the engine has been turned off.It's now disconected.Do I need a new motor, or could there be water in the motor?

check the earth.

Doubt it's the swith or anything like that because that should only work with ignition.

There is earthing under the carpet in the boot. Not sure if rear wiper earths there though but rear lights certainly do so worth a look.
