Hiya. Had the wrong shocks fitted to my Abarth - 500 fitted instead of Abarth. Would that account for knocking noise and feeling of instability on road?? Thanks

Model
Fiat 500 Abarth
Year
2012
Mileage
35000
Our first Abarth 500 was bought new and the back was all over the place, it was a 2012 car.

The later 2013-ish onwards Abarths we had the digital dash and FSD copies and was much better.

So they could be right for the model year of your car, but the later set up is much better

I think (THINK!) the shocks for a normal Abarth are exactly the same as the normal 500. Competizione (and maybe some Turismo's) have Koni FSD.
Knocking may come from worn bushes or tightening when not under load. Or even the exhaust hitting something.

Ah right. Thanks for this. Noted about 2012 model. Totally makes sense with other times I’ve noticed the instability problem thinking about it now.

Cheers. Thanks for your reply - noted re bushes.

You will be experiencing imbalance due to stiffer springs working with softer and weaker shocks. I would bite the bullet change them and resell the Fiat std ones after.
Check the bump stops are still sound and in place too.
Thanks. Yeah think changing will need to be done. Appreciate advice.
