Technical Rear Shock absorbers

Hi all - I have a Barchetta in South Africa (1997) and the Fiat dealerships here did not import Barchettas at all, therefore the spares situation is a bit difficult. Does anyone have the serial numbers of Armstrong /Gabriel / Koni etc shock absorbers, so that I can try to access a pair here in SA? I also need an engine thermostat, am I correct in saying it is the same as a Punto 1.8 HGT or a Stilo?

I just bought two Sachs front shock absorbers and I don't know if they're good...
When new, in delivery position - with the rod down, it's normal to hear the oil moving like the water in shaking bottle?
