Technical Rear drum handbrake spring advice?

Hi, been replacing rear brake pipes, cylinders and shoes and the spring that the handbrake cable goes into has snapped clean off.

Could anyone shed any light as to what I can do now? Can I put another spring on as I'm not sure?

Take cable out of back of hub and re seat spring on cable.if FUBAR buy new cable

i would get a new cable,£18 at factors ,dont buy old quinton hazel stock,their rubbish,first line seem ok

didn't reply as have been out doing it all day

to your question, yes i did get it done and got shoes, cylinders, all of it on but I the brake pipe will not screw into union thread near brake hose..think union fitting is wrong size, gonna get it changed tomorrow and should finally be back on road after 2-3 weeks off it!
