So I have had my Cinq sporting for a number of years, however the rear crossmember rotted away and when removed both rear chassis rails were very corroded could not work out which was the chassis and which was the crossmember. So after much debate I sourced a complete rear axle from Spain.

My problem is when I bolt the subframe in place I get a 'clearance' problem (image attached). Does the rear crossmember fully fit against the chassis rails or is it just at the 4 bolt points? Just need to know before I start welding.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine didn't sit hard up against the chassis rail, but I can't remember it ever having that much of a gap!!!

Thank you for that, what is strange is I have the same gap on both chassis rails and it runs the length of the rail at an equal distance. There was a lot of thick rust that dropped off with the old crossmember.

I will just have to see how it turns out.
