Hi, I'm doing a rear axle replacement on my panda as its suffering the common corrosion issue. I've managed to get everything apart after a lot of swearing but the only bolts I couldn't save are the bolts that go between the axle mounts and the triangular bracket that bolts to the floor. I had to cut a nut and split it and although I could chase the thread and put a new nut on with the state of them I'd rather just replace the bolts as well.

Does anyone know where to get these from? I think they are m12x1.25 thread grade 10.9 90mm long with a grade 10 nyloc nut.

Cheers

I take it this one you need

I have a different length

Part number 16241024 Fiat 12x1,25x80

It's had quite a few alternative numbers

It's also used on some fiat front suspension , might be easier to take one off, if you have breakers that still allow you to remove parts, if so I list the alternative locations for this bolt

The two suppliers I use are out of stock of 16241024 but I haven't tried the alternative numbers

Thanks for the reply, that is definitely the one I need but the one that came out is definitely 90mm long (pic attached) It did seem quite close to the sill with quite a bit of thread sticking out so I wonder if someone has put the wrong bolt in in the past. Do you know if they are stretch bolts or not? I've found a bolt shop that has 10.9 m12 x 1.25 bolts so I could just use them.

Not

I wouldn't have a problem doing this

It's the same bolt as runs through the dog bone engine mount, any scrap yard that sells engine and gearboxes will have chucked loads away

They have to be tightened with the car at is normal ride height

Thats great thank you 😊 I think I'll just get the new ones just to save messing about trying to clean up a pretty knackered thread. Thanks for letting me know about tightening up at ride height, I'm guessing you just do them as tight as possible with a spanner because there's no room to get a torque wrench or socket on between the sill.

Also

@varesecrazy has done a guide that will point you in the right direction

Thanks @koalar for that and thanks @varesecrazy for creating a really handy little guide! I got some replacement bolts ordered as an alternative to the above part number and they arrived today and are spot on so should do the trick. Just been painting the bits that I've got to re-use then hopefully I can start getting stuff back on ready to put the axle back on at the weekend. I'm no mechanic but I'll try and get a little write up done along with the other bits and bobs I've done to her over the last couple of years
