Im a newbie to this section of the forum.

I have just purchased a 2nd hand 52 reg active 1.6. 10,025 miles.

Im getting a noise from the rear when turning and at low speed. Also passenger rear tyre is wearing on the inside edge.

Have spent many hours reading the posts about tyre wear etc. The problem for me is that i have no warrenty, been to my dealer who gave me a form to transfer the details but the car has only had its pre delivery inspection and nothing else. Speedo reads 10,025. I cant set up the warrenty because the service guidelines have not bee stuck to by previous owner.

Have checked the breaks, the wheel is fine even had a laser allignment done and rear is alligned fine. Front was way out though. Ive seen a few times people have had the rear subframe changed and that has solved it.??

Im going to have to pay fiat for looking at the problem and fixing it because ive brought a lemon. The tyres are new and the wear on the rear is showing and only driven 600 miles. The trouble is i never herd the noise on the test drive and it dosent allways happen.

Im really gutted and this is really getting me down.

Any advise would be fantastic.

BEST Regards
james

uno, tipo, 4 bravos now a stilo.

fiat are aware of this problem and would probably repair the car as a good will gesture even if it isnt covered under warranty. if you bought the car from a fiat dealership, get them to pester fiat. if not go to your local fiat garage and try them. as for stamps in the service book that is easily fixed if you know what i mean.

Apart from doing what Dog has already suggested, I would visit the guy you bought it from with a baseball bat.

I take it it was a private sale? Otherwise any car dealer is bound to sort out any major fault which hasn't been disclosed to you, even if it is sold as seen.

Thanks to everyone for there help. (hi samiboo)

Yep it was a private sale. The good news is that my local garage Fish Brothers in swindon have set up the remainder of my guarantee which runs till october. :)

Had everything planned, printouts from here etc with passages highlighted. They didnt say much really, pretty gob smacked at what I was saying.

I dont know why but one of the service guys said that the have had to replace two rear subframes lately on this model but they have been advised by fiat to apply grease to stop the noise.

When i explained about the tyre wear and asked how greese would help that they went quiet. Told them im not making trouble just im sure that the rear axel is bent I just havnt got any proof.

So its in for inspection and due for collection saturday. I hope it is the axel and it gets changed and I can get on with my life! Will post here as soon as im back.

Is that your old Bravo mate? It is sweet, probably the sweetest one I've seen IMO, not OTT, just with enough subtle differences to make it look a bit special, lovely :D

Keep the wheels for your Stilo?

sorry to be so off topic again but cant resist:

Stilo due back sat! Lets hope its sorted and will be happy again!

The Rear Noise Prob Drovr Me Spare For The First 6 Months I Owned My 3 Door Abarth.i Had The Rear Subframe Greased And When That Didnt Work They Replaced The Rear Subframe!...that Didnt Work Either.
In Desperation I Rang The Service Manager Who Got Straight Onto The Job.he Stuck A Mechanic In The Boot And Drove Around For 2 Hours Until He Found The Prob.when He Did It Was Sorted In Half Ann Hour......bet You Cant Guess What It Was?...bloody Rear Speaker Scraping Against The Body!
Didnt Sound Very Likely I Know But I Promise You It Hasnt Come Back And Its Six Months On.
Incidentally I Now Really Love My Abarth And Even Prefer It To My Previous 147..

If it´s the subframe then the fault has nothing to do with the warranty. Fiat knows about the problem so if they try to make you pay for it, consider taking legal action.
