Hi all,

Newbie to the forum here!

I'm trying to get to the bottom of a problem on my wife's 75sx. Basically hot starting is rather hit and miss. Sometimes it starts and othertimes not.

I think the key to the problem is that when you initially turn the key, you can normally hear the fuel pump prime the system. On ocasions when it refuses to start, this noise doesnt occur - therefore the fuel pump isnt priming the system. Come back to the car in an hour or so and everything's hunky dory.

Is there a relay or switch or something that could cause this issue with the pump? I *really* dont want to be hurling money at replacement parts without narrowing down the problem.

Anyone?

The fuel pump is connected to a multiple relay that should be found under the flap in the glove compartment. It is alos connected to the inertia switch found between the passenger door and the passenger seat.
I would also say check the connections to the pump.

Thanks Evil, it looks like it was the pump connector after all. The connector had what looked a bit like caramelised coca cola on one of the pins.... bit strange really considering the fact that the connector is covered by gater and the gater was clean.

Thanks again anyway.

Excellent news, handy really as I gave you a bit of duff info there, the fuel pump relay is under the bonnet usually under a black plastic cover at the back of the engine bay.

Glad I could help though.
