i think people should be more concerned about rear fog lamps being on rather than front ones

Obviously when when my limit point moves further away then yes I'll firm up my speeds to the limit where possible and safe. There are speed limits in my area that you cannot get to the limit then slow down in time for the next one.

:) just to make clear im not saying you should hit limits all the time, I know when I first past I was slow down backroads etc. I just get annoyed when people drive at 25 and when I try and pass them they block the road!

You can't pass on the back roads near me lol.

I'm an advanced driver btw.

tbh advanded driving courses do help but not by much, a friend of mine who has been driving as long as i have. he's taken the advanced driving test and passed. he is also a police officer too i went with him once years back and now with him again recently, i can say that his driving has improved, but only very slightly.

both times with him, i've had to ask him to pull over and let me drive. if the car had been fitted with 2 seat belts i would have had both of them on.

personally when it comes to driving, some people have a certain nack to it and comes easy to them. others it doesn't and only comes with years and years of experiance.

even then they may not have progressed much as they seem there driving is ok because thats how they passed there test.

driving standards agency really needs to look at the driving standards they require to be on the road and not there revenue.

I've got to disagree there I'm afraid, it helped me a lot. I passed with a F1RST and am currently doing Observer training and training for Special Assessment.

i'm not saying it doesn't mate. what i am saying is your one of those drivers that have taken on board the new skills you have learnt. others just do the course to get a discount on there insuance premiums and carry on driving like tits

Wow, whatever personal issues you're clearly having, leave them off the forum. Jeez.

My argument is that I don't believe that kids under 21 don't fully understand the consequences of bad/stupid driving, and the roads would be a better place without them. Now this isn't to say people over 21 aren't capable of idiocy, which is why I also suggested a far more stringent driving test, possibly followed by a 10 yearly mini test.
You think that under 21's are incapable on the basis that you weren't.
Hardly an argument is it?
Nice picture by the way, but I am not sure what it represents.

am 26, and still drive like a tit sometimes (Tend to do this without trying to endanger other people and also never ever in residential areas), however due to previous mistakes and other bits and pieces I now know how to control the car more effectively. Experience has taught me this though, I also know stopping distances are a lot longer than I first thought! (going into the back of someone when I was younger at a set of traffic lights taught me this, think I was 19/20)

Just curious. If you are 26 and realise that you still drive like a tit sometimes...why do you do it?
I am not a vicar or a judge if you get my meaning, so do you mean on an empty road with only yourself to hit if it goes wrong, or what?

I drove like a tool when I was younger.

I thought Corporal punishment should be brought back into schools when I left. National service when i got to about 30.

Maybe your just getting old too? :D

So true.

Why is is that when these stories come along there always the statement

"Blab blah blah he was such a nice guy"

Why is there never "I'm sorry he's dead and all, but he was an absolute c**t"? :p

I'd be very much up for limiting drivers under 20 to cars or a certain horsepower and giving them bans for any alcohol in the system when driving and instabans for speeding over a certain amount over the limit.

No, my point is the roads would be a safer place without them.

But please continue attempting to be a smart alec, it's amusing.

I've been to 3 RTCs in the last couple of months, 1 was someone young (17), other two they were older, one was 70+ another 40 something.

I've given out two tickets for speeding, both were in their 30s.

From what I've seen, its older people who are worse than the younger ones. Maybe we should ban anyone over the age of 30?

bikes:
16y/o = 50cc
17+y/o CBT = 125cc (upto 14.7kw iirc) on L-plates, no passengers, no motorways valid for 2 yrs
17+y/o Full license = 33BHP any bike you want but it has to be restricted by law for the full 2 years of license, no L-plates, allowed passengers and on motorways. After the 2 year period, license is unrestricted

so you can have a 19y/o on a GSXR1000 or Hyabusa or even a Rocket3 which on book spec is faster than an R1 (but theyll have 2yrs experience at least)

on the otherhand if your 21+ you can do a 'Direct Access' course and aslong as you can sling a leg over a machine and pass the test you can go out and ride whatever the funk you want. to me that is just sheer madness.

im still convinced that bikers make better drivers due to their extra awareness of hazards
and respect for other road users.

Anyway, so we've got a few under-20 drivers that think they're the best thing since sliced bread, and that they represent the entire majority of young drivers.

The statistics show that 17-20 year olds are MOST LIKELY to be involved in an accident. There is a reason insurance is so expensive for you, you know. It's not just 'da man' out to get you. They are the most high risk.

I really don't know how anyone can refute that.

never said i was

where and how were these statistics taken?

and my insurance isn't to bad when you take in to account my age and how long i have been driving so i know its not just 'da man' as you like to put it

besides how many years you have been driving technically doesn't mean anything, some one could have there license for 30 years and drive a grand total of 25 thousand miles

iv had my license for 2 and a bit years and driven over 30 thousand miles, who do you think is more experienced and safer on the roads?
