But surely you can drive to another shop and get some Ziggy?

I'm stuck on a rock in the middle of the sea, it's not legal to import it without a license. :(

The only way I can get some is to go to the mainland with my car, stock up and bring it back on the ferry. LOL

Doesn't make it a very cost effective hobby. (n)
Used to pay £20 for 1 us gallon on some pretty fine stuff

But when olympics in bejing hit - they cut production to meet regulations
So Nitro fuel went up in price
becoming £25 per US gallon

However my local shop has gone i believe
Now i have to have it shipped here and that too bumps the price stupidly HIGH

If you ran electric, you wouldnt have that problem ;)

Tom

Oh i do :)

1/10th Traxxas Rustler VXL - With the best esc Castle Made the Mamba max (before the new stuff kept blowing up)
3cell lipo and Brushless - the speed is brilliant - more fun when its a challenge of been unstable :)

Hella lot cheaper too - except for tyres
they do tend to explode.....

Thats what foam inserts and glue are for ;) haha

Big tyres do something called Pizza wheeling or balloning

The Tyres size changes due to centrifugal forces and as a result something lets go

no weather the tyre bonds break or the glue unsticks - at speed they go flying cause of it

Alot of people now band there tyres with super strong tape thats reinforced to help reduce the amount of ballooning

Ziggy

I know tyres baloon, Ive seen a guy with a nitro ping a tyre off at a meet before for the fun off it.
My brushless set up has had a tyre at about twice its size before! bloody hillarious!

Balloning is brilliant on speed runs as the speed is immense when they go super size

But
They tend to then either explode
Inflate differently and you end up doing a 3mile summersalt-flip-cartwheel with a 10meter roof slide to top it off

Thats why I have a beater shell for messing about with, and a good/show shell for showing off :)

Less of the dog dribble this is supposed to be about R/C hobbies... LOL

Anyway I think this chap has got a bit carried away with the Multicopter technology apparantly there are working on production models of these as we speak. I certainly wouldn't like to fall out of the chair on the prototype.

I know ultimately it won't be R/C but all that technology fell right out of the hobby, there is nothing really bespoke about that prototype other than the control board and frame.

And then there are these nano things that quite frankly scare the living s*** out of me:

And here's a new FPV vid for the scottish chaps :D:

And how's that Tamiya coming along Rake? Where is the obligatory build thread. :)

Hey, started the build while the forum was down last week, didn't get far tho. I'll snap some pics and get that thread underway soon.

On a not so brighter note, took my brothers off road petrol buggy for a spin with him and broke it within seconds, ..... I laughed.

Ah the joys :) done that may a times

Other laughable examples
walked 1/2 mile to bash site - fill up - have 5 minutes fun - Steering and throttle shut off due to low voltage protection... poo....
guess what i forgot todo....

Well this made me smile today, even if the GPS thought I was 40m underground??

First succesful FPV flight of the year, only a £6 cam on board for the test (GoPro's don't grow on trees...)

I know it's a bit mundane but I'm a bit rusty after not having flown for best part of a year because of the damn weather. (n)

This was a test flight, next time longer range and HD. (y)

Cough Cough Mobius :D

Somehow I managed to upload it in the wrong format (narrow screen:confused:) and youtube seriously minces the processing, but hey it's not that bad. I could have gone a hell of a lot further (shiny new home brew diversity and CP patch) but you have to keep low and sensible with so many real aeroplanes about.

I can't really desribe it, it feels like flying a real plane, if you ever get the chance give it a try. (y)

Finished just in time for the winter.

My new Falcon Autonomous Drone based round the Mobius Action Cam for both recording and viewing. Full FPV control or complete computer navigation using Mavlink LRS Coms or pre-planned waypoints (basically point and click on google maps). It can loiter, take off, land and navigate through wind, chase the neighbours cat etc. It's a bit like a flying Iphone really...

I got a bit carried away with the spec, but meh... :D

Now I just need to wait for a sunny day to maiden it. :bang:

Recently came into ownership of a Schumacher Riot 2 nitro stadium truck! Managed to pick it up for £60 inc radio gear and a full bottle of 20% nitro fuel! :D the engine was fubar so I bought a new piston, sleave and a few glowies and rebuilt it completely :) starts first time and runs smoooooth! For a 3.0cc its rapid! Struggle not to flip it on flat out acceleration from standing!

Also bought a Hubsan X4 a few months back too! Tiny little Quadricopeter!

Work in progress :yum::

Bumble.jpg

Fully loaded FPV Bumblebee...

I don't favour copters but it suits my requirements when I work away.

Those motors are coming off way too heavy :yuck:.

Yeah I know I should be working on Monster, I'll get to him real soon I promise.
