Technical quick question cylinder 1

I have to change an injector on my multijet at the weekend. Could someone confirm which end of the engine is cylinder 1. I apologise but I did a search and couldn't find the answer

According to the Haynes manual the firing order is
1-3-4-2 with number one being at the timing chain end.

Firing order is different to location order. OP I believe it's 1-4 starting on the left

this is the sort of question which can make you lose sleep!
how easy it is to pull off those ht leads then forget where they went.
i usually number them with tipex but then with some cars theres the added problem of rememering where they go on th editributor!
why oh why dont car makers just write the number on them from left to right
