easily possible, especially on engines that are prone to it, for example some rover k-series engines can suffer HG failure every year, and many small fiat petrol engines (1.1/1.2) suffer from it badly.
there are many causes of HG failure, if you only repair the gaskst and not the cause then it will keep on happening again and again. if the engie in question is not prone to head gasket failure then you need to investigate what is causing it, for exmaple a warped head or a blockage in the coolaing system or a damaged water pump impeller etc etc etc.
