Hello All.

I have W reg 1.2 8 valve punto.

The car turns over but won't start
All spark plugs are sparking
There is fuel pressure at the shrader valve
All the marks line up for the timing

Has anyone got any clues on what it can be??

Also does anyone know what compression you should have when the engine is cold??? as obviously I can't turn it on to warm it up and check.

Thanks Paul.

Is fuel getting past the injector(s) -- fuel wet plugs?

If yes, check the order of the plug leads, should be (from timing side of cylinder head) 1, 2, 3, 4. 1 and 4 go to one coil (doesn't matter which), 2 and 3 to the other.

Check that the small hole in the alternator pulley locates with the small pip in the timing pulley (or the ignition timing will be miles out).

Even stone cold and past sell by date, I'd expect 100psi minimum on compressions, but the real point is that all compressions should be more or less the same.

No key Code light?

However i thought that stopped sparking

I'm with Fingers - On the Crank Pulley
There is Teeth marks - and then a flat spot, the flat spot is the ignition point
But if that point is wrong - your in trouble
there are 5 holes on the pulley
3 Bolts - Engine Pulley Big Bolt - a Small Black Peg that Means the Crank Pulley can ONLY fit one way

Hi Huys thanks for the help have been buisy at work and hot had time to try untill now.

The timing hole on the crank pully is fine.

The spark plugs are not wet.

I have removed all apark plugs an tipped fome petrol down. Still nothing.

Anything else i can try.

Can i test the injectors to check they are squirting.

is it worth getting a box and checking the ecu for faults

Thanks Paul.

give it some snuff and see if she runs
if it does then get it warm do a compression test
i would want 175 a pot
and about 20 on a vacuum gauge steady
plugs die by the way so if everything comes up ok put a new set in of the right recommended type

does anyone know what could be stopping the fuel injectors working ???????????
