does ne1 know if it possible to fit the turbo of the 1.4 punto gt to a bravo 1.2, just wondering to see if it is possible or not

cheers

Please remember to add titles. Thanks.

ne things possible m8, jus depends what your budget is really??

How easy would it be to fit the turbo to the manifold? Other than that its just the usual issues of lowering compression. But I know a bloke who's running a Tipo 16v high compression motor with a turbo and having no problems.

i wouldn't bother to be honest, might as well put a whole gt engine in, autotest use to do a turbo kit for the 1.2 16v but it only gave a 40bhp increase in power and wasn't that quick, fit a 6 speed box from a punto mk2 or stilo instead that would be a cheaper route and the lower ratio's will make the car far more useable with no reliability issues.

so by fitting a new 6 speed box doesnt improve power? but improves acceleration?
how hard is it? can it be done to any bravo?

thats correct, power output is unaffected but acceleration is improved due to the fact that the gear ratios are shorter so easier for the engine to gain momentum while turning the wheels, think for simplistic terms resistance, the longer the gear the more resistance the engine has to fight to get it moving

it could be possible if the gearbox is compatable with the block, so if the 1600 stilo has a 6 speed box and the engine codes on the block are the same the box should in theory fit. one thing to note is the fact that all the gear linkages will more than likely need to be changed and there may need to be some custom fabrication or adjustment work to the transmission tunnel etc

its something im looking into for Patch for later this year, but may have just found something else to gobble the pennies ;)

oki doki just thort as it sed up ther there was 1 but dunt mater

Autotest did a kit for the 1.2 16valve, it was fitted to a mk2 punto and i know of a couple of others with the same kit, if the engine in the bravo and punto are the same in theory it shoud fit the bravo, they were 2.5k for the kit D.I.Y.

at the end of the day there is no replacement for displacement. meaning get a bigger engine. if you cant afford to insure a car with a bigger engine you wont be able to insure a 1.2 with a turbo!! face it

also to fabricate all the parts needed to turn the 1.2 in to a turbo you are look ing at 5grand. spend it on another car!!!
