Recent purchase of Punto Sporting 1999. Not critical but would like to know: When operating electric sunroof to the open position should it stop at the tilt position before sliding right back? It stops at the tilt position when closing & functions in all other repects.

I think that is right mine opened without stopping before I fixed it. I had to move the gearing round.

How far does yours open? The full width of the sunroof apature or 3/4 way.

I don't think it should. It will stop when you go from a tilt to a close to a full opening as you come to the end of the circuit. But if you go from closed to fully open then it should go right through.

Sunroof operates as your description suggests. It cuts out at fully open/close with a stop on closing in the tilt position. Many thanks for replies, forum seems better than manual.

On mine it is two stages. 1. opens to tilt and stops. 2. from tilt position press the open button and it opens all the way. Closing is one movement.

No, it slides in between the roof cover (the fabric that you can see) and the roof itself (the metal part), so when you push and hold the button the sun roof should tilt and will then stop in a tilted open position (I suppose this is to allow a limited amount of air in). You then push the same button again and the sunroof slides back in between the interior roof and the inside of the exterior roof. Hope this helps:p

I used to have this problem in my Punto ELX on the next day i bought the car from a local dealer. Sunroof was tilted and stopped in middle. I tried to close and I couldn't.. I asked them to repair it..Instead they managed to close the sunroof and disconnected electrical supply (@!)... I still need to repair it.. I know punto has lot of electrical problems.. I hope this is one of them..
