General Punto sputter / puffing sound

My car seems louder and more rough, if I pulse my foot on the gas once and remove there's a sputter/ puffing (like a putt putt kind of sound) it seems to be coming from the front end.

Performance seems normal maybe occasionally hesitant taking off but nothing major.

Any ideas?

I have no warning lights, there's enough oil and water.

Check the exhaust system for leaks

It was the flexi bit, not only that the garage that fitted the old one fitted an 8v centre instead of a 16v
