General punto sporting

hey guys goin to look at a punto sporting tommorow has 48,000 miles on it and is an o2 plate i was just wondering if there is anything inparticular i should look out for i.e. any common problems on them. areas prone to rusting?

I have a 2001 HGT its sound but rust is just starting outside underneath the front seats and the inner sills again under the floor. Also look at the front subrame.

My solution has been to spray it with a 50/50 mixture of chain saw oil and white spirit. This soaks into any bare metal and really does protect it well. It has to be done a few times untill all flaky bits have come off.

This suggests mine is bad for rust - its not and the treatment will keep it that way.

Another place to look is on the roof, above the doors under the rubber gutter strips. The roof rack clips harbour rust which can spread onto the roof panel. The same solution works here

Its a 7 and half year old lump of steel, I'd be nore worried if there was no corrosion.

Also check the service history against receipts.

It seems that the wild sellers market of the last few months is beginning to cool down, a few unsold cars about this last couple of weeks.
