Technical Punto Sporting - Hill Holder failure

ive the same prob on my hgt and had it a day or so after buying it. i have been told to take it bk into them and its booked in. good feature really, i imagine really helpfull when driving in bad weather and sitting on a uphill. thing thats really pee'ing me off tho is that when it fails..which is about 50% of the time, it turns the esp off. so then my abs and traction contol doesnt work.

having probs with mine. its been in 3 times and still not sorted. one thing ive noticed is that when i first turn my ignition key, even before the checks have even started is that my traction control off light comes on when its going to fail. if it doesnt come on the hill holder is fine..blummin fiat :bang:

I assume the MkII Sporting doesn't have it...?
it does have a hill holder m8
well mine does & mine is a 04 sporting mk2.
y it's got it when you have a hand brake i dont know
my other car focus c-max has a electronic hand brake & thats got it aswell
but more handy on that one

Have just taken delivery of my shiny new Punto Sporting this afternoon, however about 10 miles from the garage (it's an importer, so there was no point turning round), the Hill Holder failure light came on.

Any idea if this is going to cause me problems short-term (I've stalled it a couple of times from hill starts, unsure if this is the failure or me getting used to a new car)?

Is it possible to switch the hill holder off?

I can get it to the garage tomorrow, but as it's not come from them, I expect the service to be surly at best and if it's not a major issue, I'd prefer not to bother for now.
ok i have a 2004 punto classic mk 2 HGT, has hill hold assist , had this light come on , so i did the following ,
scanned , no codes
replace brake switch and checked all lights ,
checked clutch switch ,
cleaned abs module plug ,
removed every fuse in the car and cleaned and replaced ,
replaced battery ,
but after all this no luck until tonight i removed both wires to the alternator , cleaned the terminals and replaced the wires back on and did up tight .
lights no out and all fixed , very very long journey to fix but good result
