Ok, can someone tell me what i have to do to get my damn radio to tirn off with my ignition?

I have tried swapping the red and yellow wires over and still no luck, plz help:D

Its a MK2 2003 (53 reg). I have checked the red wire and it isnt switched :(

One person said take a feed from the lighter socket (goes off with the igniton) and connect that to the back of the Sony HU via the red wire.

Thanks

you dont need to do what that guy sais. i have a mk2 and it turns off with teh ignition fine.

the thing is you are dealing with fiat wiring lol and they decided that 1 12v wire was not enough so in the back you have actually got 2 12v and 1 switched 12v wire.

if you have the origional fiat stereo there should be a wiring label on it wich will show you were there switched wire is if not i will show you.

1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8

those numbers represent the bottom connector block of wires behind your stereo

number 8 should be thicker black wire that is the earth.
number 4 is 12v wire
number 2 is the swithable live i think this may be grey and green (ignition)
number 3 is the auto antenna which powers the built in sub i think this is yelow.
number 6 i belive is the other 12v wire.

that should be enough info for you.

i put in a new blaupunkt unit and all i had to do was move the wire from pin 2 to were ever it said it had to go in the manual which i think was pin 4. yours may be different.
then i just taped up the origional wire from pin 4 as did not need a second 12v wire on my new stereo.

any questions just ask

Thanks, ill give that a go tomorrow as its too flipping cold to be outside atm!!

Ill check the wires and get back to you in the morning.

also, have you got any thoughts on my other thread in this board?

Well done it all and it works a treat! It was a blue wire but was in the same socket as the one you mentioned.

However....the Airbag warning light is now on and im off to the FIAT dealer in morning :(:(

air bag warning light ewwwww:(. wonder what caused that[?]. did you disconnect battery before messing with wires.

oh well im sure it just needs to be reset or maybe a fuse gone hope its a cheap fix and glad to hear your stereo is working ok now. and sorry for giving wrong color been 3 months since i had stereo out must got bit mixed up.;););)

Got the airbag sorted, it was just the airbag connector come loose! It wasnt near the stero, it just was coincidence, so the Fiat garage says!

Thanks the FishDude.

hi, just been reading the thread and have a slightly off topic question. When you talk about moving wires to a different pin, how do you do this, I gave a little tug but didnt want to pull to hard so how do you get the wire out in the first place.

well i tried pulling the wires also but dint budge soooo when i refer to moving the wire to differnt pin i actually cut the wires then i attach male and female bullit connectors to the ends of the wires that i am moving and conect them back up were i want them to go. i normally cut em about 1-2 inch from back of the iso block so you have a bit of slack to work with.

and yep that is one of the live wires on the punto block.
