Never tried it, but it should (as should an 1108 Cinq or Sei Sporting one). They pretty much share the same flywheel throughout the FIRE engines.

thats what i though, as guys on ebay would claim they fit puntos from 94-04

if i plug it to a computer will it show a fault on starter motor?

car struggles or take longer cranking when starting from dead cold, it always starts from second try, changed ht leads, alternator brushes, coil packs, battery like 2 years ago-was same with the previous battery, only thing i didnt change are spark plugs-after every spark plug change it would be same as described above and starter motor, not rly something that bothers me, i just wonder what is causing this

Unless the starter seems -- almost magically -- to pick up speed on the second turn of the key, my guess is that it's compression related. Dry and wet compression tests might show something, but even if they do, fixing will involve tearing down the engine.

If the starter does speed up, it's likely to be a poor connection with either one of the main earths (battery -ive to wing, top of gearbox to wing) or starter cables.

No code reader will show starter motor faults.

I use a MkII starter on my Panda Fantasia and FrankenFiat engine (Punto 60 block, 75 cam' and bike carb's) with the older blocks only two of the bolts line up but it engages and works perfectly.

good idea of teeth count, got a 55 1.1

is there any way to test the starter before putting it in

yes mate
put it in a vice or get a strong mate to put his boot on it and once its running see if you can stop it by feeding it a long piece of 3x2

Cant give you exact answer, punto 2 with denso starter has 8 not 9 teeth like older ones, there are also hitachi starters in some grande puntos, 500's, bravo t-jets etc with 10 teeth{3rd gen. fire engines}, In the 1st gen of fire engine, till 1999 most of the starters were bosch or marelli, and little amount of ducelier, all 9 teeth, after 99 the variety rises :bang:
