2000 Mk 2 JTD/ELX, No problems for 3 years( except NOISE !) Good enough car.
Problem:- starts first time when cold or cool. When it has reached working temp, switch off , starts ok. 5 -10 mins later will not start, turns ok but no start. Will start OK in 30 mins.
put it into main dealer who told me I req' new set of heater plugs (£265 fitted) No other faults show up on test.(Then charged me £75 !! )
Surely if it was heater plugs there would be a problem at initial start?

Any ideas, wife is well anoyed with it!
Great Site,keep it up. :bang:

Thefishdude - THANKS !

I will order RPM sensor and come back to you. Deffinately sound right.

I had disconected temp sender, thinking TEMP , now I have engine mang't light perm't on. Any tips to put out , or back to dealer after I change RPM sensor?

THANKS again !

Re engine mang't light:-

It wouldn't go out during stationary running or when batt' disconected all night. Took it for a run on motorway, up to working temp and light went out shortly after, good eh !

Still waiting for RPM sensor

Good Luck

JOB DONE!!!!

Fitted new RPM/ TDC sensor , no more problems.
Fault eventualy only allowed car to run till half warm on gauge, 15 - 20 mins max. Cost £21:21p, Two different types, req chassis No.
Sensor tucked in below starter motor, easy enough job.

THANKS AGAIN !!
