Technical punto help please!!

Right long story here!!
Brought a 2nd hand fiat punto R reg hasnt been used for a week or so, went out saturday only litally round the corner started fine/ drove fine. i stopped let someone out went to start it.. no luck.. hazards were flashing, windscreen wipers going, then a few mintues later cd player started coming on and off.
Found out battery was low, so charged it up, yet hazards still flashed, wipes and cd player kept going. pressed few buttons on alarm key and it just stopped.. not sure if it will happen again.. dont no much about cars.. anyone got any ideas?! thanks!

sounds like the alarm has a built in immobiliser that automatically arms if the ignition is switched off for more than a couple of mins.

i had the same problem on a previous car. next time it happens arm and disarm the alarm, or leave the ignition on when you're in the car with the engine switched off.
