No you do not remove the hubs to fit brake calipers on the front, you retain the Cinq/Sei ones.

And the brake pipes fit but always a worth while investment in s/s ones plus renew all fluid, then bleed brakes in sequence to ensure to air and new fluid all round.

Aaron.
cheers matey now for the rears does this theory extend to to back too getting s/s hoses are you suggesting that the sei braids will fit the gt callipers

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

As Custard has said you can't use off the shelf brake lines for a rear calliper conversion due to the calliper being a moving part you need a flexi pipe to it, whereas on the drum which doens't move its a solid pipe, so custom pipes are needed.

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

What did you use for those custom flex pipes? for the Rears?
At the suspension part I have OMP steelbrake lines.
But after that it's solid steelpipe to the drums.

How Did you solve this problem.
I've got hte adaptorplates for a punto GT (Thanks to Asteris) rear and have the calipers.

and soon I will start this conversion.

and why there aren't almost no pics in this topic:confused:

Re: I've fitted Punto GT callipers/disc's!

Well it is very fortunate for me that I live very close to Goodridge and Earls at Silverstone who happily make up pipes to your specification, lenghts fittings etc got mine for about £14 IIRC

If i remember I will take some pictures of the set up this weekend as i need to move my exhaust over a few mm.

Aaron.

I know this is an old thread but thought i would add my own experience with my seicento brake upgrade!
I had overheated the standard front brakes on my 1242 cinq several times so decided to do things the correct way around and sort the chassis and brakes before playing with the engine this time.
I managed to source some bravo hlx 115 16v (1.8) calipers at a scrappies whilst looking around for a punto gt/uno turbo.
These appear to be the 257(?)mm vented discs and the later(?) calipers with the springs on the outside.
I stripped them expecting to have to refurb them (and was going to spray them yellow) but they were perfect so i just re-assembled them and fitted them to give them a try(was fitting lowering springs at the same time).

calipers and brackets etc £15
brembo(standard) discs £45
Greenstuff pads £40

:DWOW:D.........

I am unbelievably impressed.the pedal travel is slightly greater but the feedback is much better and you can modulate braking pressure so much better.I will be fitting rear discs at some point later before my van aakan turbo engine goes in (purely for cosmetic reasons).
Its worth noting that my rear drums used to lock occasional during spirited driving but since fitting the bigger discs i havent suffered with it at all!!

The weak link now being my tyres!I have 14 inch punto wheels with 175/65 tyres(they were sourced in a hurry to replace the triangular(!) wheels the previous owner had fitted.they are soon to be replaced by a set of 15s(when i will get around to painting the calipers and fitting the rear discs,if i can source some before...
will post a couple of pics when i get the chance.....

sei abarth alloys are 14" . I know these been a lot of discussion about what exactly they will fit but has anyone fitted with sei sporting abarth standard alloys?

ian

ok, just read through and as i want to do this i need.

the 257mm disks from either punto gt unto turbo or brava 1.8 ??

and the calipers.

i have abarth 14s so there fine. and can use original lines?

other than the disk pads and calipers anything else i need?

any chance anyone knows a complete list of cars that have these disks / calipers would be a great help in the search

Just had a good read through this thred some very helpful info ! i have the same calipers as aaron gt3 . Got off ebay for £37.49 inc p+p started cleaning them up and painting them red . The discs i got from rally design thanks to a link from kritip for 47 quid ish ! Pads were 23 quid from local factors .Was hoping to get it done this weekend but the discs have not arrived yet

Dot 4 (go to top spec if track day use, otherwise, all will be fine). Bleeding order

NS rear
OS front
OS rear
NS front

Use one of the one person bleeding kits, and just crack the nipple open. If possible, use a deep 6 sided socket to open the nipple, rather than a 12 sided spanner. When clear fluid comes out, that's it.

Bleed gently (going at it hard can damage the master cylinder seals), keep an eye on the fluid level.

Brill thank you never done it before ... think its the only thing ive not changed on my car so far lol .I picked up some brake fluid from the fiat garage when my mum picked up her new punto so she ended up paying for it :D its nissan dot 4 he said it was better / cheaper then the fiat stuff .
Cheers Adz
