Hi can anyone help

This is my first ever thread, and i should really be in bed as i start 1st day at uni tomorrow!

OK, I just bought a 3dr Punto GO! 2001 model with a 51' Plate, Its a special edition, so other than sport seats has a 100W Subwoofer in the boot as standard.

It had the Standard Blaupunkt Tape deck, and the Sub worked fine........

I removed this and put in my Sony MP40 CD/mp3 head-unit from my old car .......and now every speaker now works EXCEPT the subwoofer!!!!

Grrrr!!

Can anyone tell me what i need to do to get the Sub working with my new Head-Unit.........Will i have to buy an amp and channel it throught That?

Are there any wires i can fiddle with on the ISO Loom to get the Sub blasting on my current stereo Sony stereo??

VERY FRUSTRATED!! PLEASE HELP!

Yeah. Hi. :D

Does the Connector on the Standard HU have any other connections other than the ISO?

AFAIK, its an amped sub, so yu might just be able to take a spur off a speaker line, but yu would ideally want a dedicated output for it, cos otherwise the system will be overloaded, and could kill itself!

Welcome to the forum mate, and don't worry about ya own day you never really do much in ya first week at Uni (but thats not what I tell my parents I might add :)).

I'm sure this question has popped up here before so hopefully someone will know the answer to it for you. Sorry but I haven't got a clue.

Hope you get it sorted thow.

the loom from the head unit probably doesn't have a wire dedicated to the sub, as the original loom from the tape deck would have had, unfortunately, i cannot help as i had my JVC Chameleon head unit in my punto(see below) and the sub worked a treat with no fiddling required. as for buying an amp to run it... don't bother. if you're going to go down that road then you may as well get the lot. sub/amp/6x9's but this will cost a pretty penny outright. this is what i suggest...
i take it you still want to keep your Sony mp3 player in your car, but you also want a bit of bass.
simply buy some speakers for your rear shelf, 6x9's or components will do and you'll only need to spend about £40-£80 for decent ones anywhere up to about 200w-300w.
hook these up to your original wiring for your rear speakers (no cutting required just a small socket under each speaker, i have same car remember, i should know) and your head unit should be pumping out about 50w to each one, this should give you a bit extra bass for a cheap price.

Then in the future when you have a bit of spare cash, get a small 200w/400w amp to run the speakers you already bought a few months earlier should only cost around £80 including wiring kit, then this will give you a better sound and you guessed it... a tad more bass.

Then, further in the future when you get a bit more cash get a sub and amp deal for around £130 - £200 (depending on how much u want to spend) inclulding wiring kit and box and you'll have a pretty good setup.

You already have the head unit and that is really the most expensive part of a reasonable setup, so you're on your way
