Technical Punto Gear Selection Problems

My X reg 1.9 JTD has intermitent problems with selecting gears - particularly 3rd. It either won't go into 3rd, or gets stuck in 3rd, then after a few miles sorts itself out and runs OK for days. 4th & 5th can also be stiff, but 1st & 2nd always OK.

Fiat dealers do not record this as a known fault. I guess it is the linkage from cables into the 'box.

Anyone else come across this????

my x reg sporting sumtimes has trouble going into 3rd normally have to give it an extra push or back of and try again, i am just used to it and you dont have to push to hard just harderthan going into the other gears. its been like it on moine since i got the car 18months ago.
