My In laws have an 02 Punto tha t wont run right, he called the AA who told hime the ECU had gone faulty.

He has now had a quote for around £400 to replace this with a new one.

Does this sound right, why cant a S/H unit be droped in, or is all the codes stored in it ?

Thanks Daren

Sorry I've just rang him its a 51 just out of time!!!

 typical!!

Well ive been told that prices of ECUs from Fiat are around that price......rip off I think. I dont know if a second hand ECU could fit in, sorry I cant be more help

Theyre very unlucky with that, im sure they should have had a recall letter about it when it was still under warranty  Fiat called all affected cars to re-program the ECU to stop it messing up like this.

Hmm thats intresting thanks (recall), Very unlucky it was 3yrs old 1 1/2weeks ago!!

Sorry you cant fit a e.c.u. from another car -all coded to that car! so it wont work on yours, best thing is a reconned e.c.u.works out cheaper.to do phonic wheel learn after it fitted you let engine reach normal temp. and rev.it up to high revs.quickleyand let it drop back to idle for a few seconds,do this three times in all and the flashing engine management light should now stop flashing when engine running!
