Hi can anyone help

This is my first ever thread, and i should really be in bed as i start 1st day at uni tomorrow!

OK, I just bought a 3dr Punto GO! 2001 model with a 51' Plate, Its a special edition, so other than sport seats has a 100W Subwoofer in the boot as standard.

It had the Standard Blaupunkt Tape deck, and the Sub worked fine........

I removed this and put in my Sony MP40 CD/mp3 head-unit from my old car .......and now every speaker now works EXCEPT the subwoofer!!!!

Grrrr!!

Can anyone tell me what i need to do to get the Sub working with my new Head-Unit.........Will i have to buy an amp and channel it throught That?

Are there any wires i can fiddle with on the ISO Loom to get the Sub blasting on my current stereo Sony stereo??

VERY FRUSTRATED!! PLEASE HELP!

hi there you shouldnt need an amp the sub sort of got one built in.

the problem maybe in your new stereos wiring, the sub needs a signal to turn on and off. it gets this signal from the electrical/auto arial out pin on the original stereo. now you need to check if you stereo has that facility. and if so what pin it is at, as you may need to move the wire. i cant remember the colour of the wire it may be theyellow one ? but if you look at the iso blocks you plugged in. i am pretty sure the wire that supplies the sub with the signal is in the bottom/ power block of wires. its in the top row one in from the left as you look at the front of teh block. also if you still have the original stereo there maybe a sticker on the top with the wiring pattern. you will see one pin marked aut-ant thats the auto antenna lead you need to supply with power.

just one other thing the sub has a fuse in it just make sure you havent blown it. the fuse is stuck in the top. its a long shot but you never know

To the Fishdude

Hi thanks for that

my stereo is pretty new, its a Sony Mp40 and, yes, it does have the wire for the Automatic Antenna!!

And yes i do still have the original Tape deck

So its seems i have all the necesarry bits...........but can you give me more details on what i actually need to do??

CHEERS FOR THIS!

hi there, you need to check the wiring on the original stereo compared to your new stereo. there are 2 iso conectors blocks you plugged into to get the stereo working. the top one is for speakers that one is fine you can leave that alone. the other block is the power block. it should have a thicker wire to the rest in the corner. now hopefully your new stereo has a manual with it and should tell you what all the different pins do on the back of the unit. you need to compare that to the locations indicated on the old stereo. most should be ok. now the thicker wire in the corner is the earth wire above that is the "live" and next to that should be the autoantenna wire. like i said in my earlier post there should be a sticker on your old stereo showing whatteh pins are. check to to make sure all wires are in same place it sounds like they are not. so you may need to cut some of the wires and rejoin them up in different places. i use bullet connectors for this you can get them from halfords or car audio shops.

anyway check the wiring let me know if its different much.

thefishdude,

my wiring is all pukah is in the auto antenna wires all match up and are connected through the loom

so, what now can the problem be? :bang:

someone told me that its all to do with the factory tape deck, that basically when u take it out u will always lose the sub.......But is this true??

cheers (y)

I had the very same problem with my Punto GO! (02 plate) and my sony headunit, the problem however was very easy to fix and i didnt even have to touch the wires at the back of my headunit or anything complicated like that!
Try turning your headunit onto the radio tuner and select FM is your sub working??? then if you switch to cd then the sub should stop working yes? if this is the case before u switch your cd player to cd mode just make sure the tuner is in either AM or LW frequencies... now check your sub when u switch to cd mode? is it working??? let me know how u got on.

Weird Look

HI mate, i did exactly what you said..........Turned it to AM first and the selected CD mode..............And YES THE SUB WORKS!!!!

Now can you tell me what the hell is going on!!?? Why does this quirk happened? Is there any way around it or is this only only way to get the sub to kick in when i play my tunes!?

Cheers mate, ur a starr
