Technical punto automatic problem

hi all im new to the forum i have just bought a punto 1.3 automatic on a n plate.im really impressed with it but i have noticed the warning light for the auto transmission flashes every now and again and today it stayed on untill i switched the engine off and back on there are no problems with the cars drive except steam in the exhaust due to the head gasket which im doing tomorrow morning and the transmissin oil is clean and the correct level any ideas as im crapping myself lol

Dont rest your hand on the gear selection lever, this will cause faults.

cheers m8 i will try and see if my hand is resting on the lever if it comes on again h,it happened again today i just pulled over and swithed the engine off then on and it didnt happen again
