Technical Punto 85SX - I'm stuck

Please can someone help, My mrs has a 99 Punto 85SX. When driving it has started making a noises, high pitched, which seems to calm down when i dip the clutch. It doesnt disappear but isnt as bad. Its sounds and feels like it may be the steering although i'm no mechanic. Can anyone help me.Costly job??

My immediate reactions would be:
a) Alternator drive belt slipping (doesn't really fit with reducing on clutch press though - would prob increase with lights & rsh turning on as a way to test)
b) Clutch release bearing (fits symptoms but doesn't tie up with steering)
c) Power steering pump (if you have Power steering, but doesn't tie up with clutch effect).
Suggest get professional help - you don't bugger about with steering issues.

It could be some rust and crap build up on brake disc or some other braking related problem. I find the caliper arrangement on these stupid to the point of disbelief to many contact points for pad!!!!
Worn or sticking pads could be the cause...check
