General punto 75 cam

General punto 75 cam

Easy straight swap for the 55/60 cam.

The 75 cam might go nicely in the 1108 (55) engine, mind. The 1242 and 1108 SPi use the same cam, so would be better!

So the cam out of a Punto 75 would go straight into a 1242 SPI engine then???

Sorry don't mean to sound stupid, I'm just double checking.

Is it worth putting a 75 cam in a 55?, what are the power gains?, are they much to buy and fit?,

questions questions!,

apparently, yes it is worth doing. The 55 is the same engine as the Cinq Sporting and it's recommended by a few people (y)

Well, I can only try...

My logic is this: The 1108 and 1242cc SPi both use the same head and cam, its the 75 (1242cc MPi) that has a hotter cam because the multipoint fuelling needs it..so logically, It should swap in directly for the 1108 / 1242 SPi cam, hence fun! :)

The 1242 mpi cam HAS!!! got aprox 1.2mm more lift over a standard 1108.A 1108 cam has 0.8mm more lift than a 999 fire engine uno.Ive just done a cam swap from my cinque 1108 into an uno 999 no problemo and ive got a mpi cam for my cinque ready to fit.

There are certainly two part numbers an the Fiat Parts System

7723029 which is compatible with M1 ,M2 ,M5 ,M6 and is shared with the Cinq and 7772866 which is compatible with M3 (the 1.2MPI) and M7 (1.2SPI CF2 176B4000)

So it looks as though some later model 1.2SPIs used this cam also.

I hope this helps

Regards,
Michael

Someone (Blitzen?) quoted the cam timings and lift figures a while ago, the Cinq/Sei SPI, Punto 55 and 60 all use the same cam but the 75 is a slightly longer duration. I'll take Quatermass's word over the lift.
