Technical Punto 55s problem

Hi,

I've got a Punto 55s 1995 and am currently having problems with the engine and heater. For the last month my heater has not been able to blow out hot air, only cold air comes out. There is also a fish smell which i'm assuming is the coolant. Also, last week the red warning light came on to indicate my car was over heating. I'm putting this down to the fact it may have an air lock in the system and was wondering what sort of cost i was looking at to rectify the problem as it is unlikely i'll be able to bleed the system. What would a garage charge to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is very frequent case, unfortunetly it's seems to be problem with reheater. It is difficult because your garage must decompose "cocpit"

Definatly sounds like an airlock or lack of water, try squeezing the radiator top hoze quickly when the engine is warmed up as this gets the water to pump through the pipes.

fishy smell, coolent loss, no heat = heater matrix very common thing on puntos.

you could try bleeding the system its easy but fill with 50/50 mix antifreese and water. you have to undo bleed screws 1 on radiator 1 on heater pipe at the back of engine, fill coolent to max and squeeze radiator hoses to get rid of air, coolent will go down keep doing this for ages until only coolent does not go down any more. do up bleed screws run engine untill fan starts up, turn off and let it cool down, then top coolent to max. recheck coolent level for the next couple of days as often as you can at least every morning.
