General Punto 3dr seat mechanism problems

Hi all,
When I bought my 2004 Punto 3dr, the driver's seat would not tilt forward- the handle on the side of the seat would move, but nothing happened. Today it did tilt forward, but would not return to its original position, so if I'm not sitting in it the seat is tilted forwards. Also, the height adjustment only pushes up one side of the seat- not an issue for me as I sit very low down, but it is still annoying. I suspect in both cases something within the mechanism has come off, but what could cause these problems?

There is a cable that connect the upper handle to the latch

Now it wont stay upright.. does it also not lock on the runners?

Im sure a seat rebuild will have been covered in the last 20 years on here..
