Technical punto 1242

hi does anyone know how much you can bore a 1242 punto engine to ? also does the 14gt fit the same gearboxx and engine mounts as a 1242 pm or reply to this please

It would help if you told us what car you have 1242cc 16v or 8V mk1 or mk2 punto? [^]

i thought 8v & 16v had the same block, just diffrent head,

might be with the mk1 but my mk2 1242cc 8v is totally different to the 16v [V]

I believe there are even differences on the MK2 between the 1242cc 16 HLX or is it ELX?? And the 1242 16v Sporting, but then I could be wrong on that one.

Of course the gear box is certainly different, either that or my car grew that 6th Gear

I'm not sure, but I'm sure I read somewhere that the bores on the FIRE Engine are such that cylinder walls are quite thin. As such, the only option is for a stroker crank - which might end up in you getting about 1.4 litres (and 95bhp - sound familiar...?)
