General Punto 1.1i 55 N reg

my mum recently got a punto 1.1 and is having trouble starting in the cold weather,

i have just changed the spark plugs today as i thought this might have been the problem, altho it did start up on second time of asking it still struggles to start. after driving for around 15 miles there was also no hot air coming from the heater, it takes a while to get there,

there is no emulsion in the oil and both water and oil levels are fine.

a friend did mention that the thermostat might be knackered or not even there!!!


also on 2 occasions the car has cut out whilst driving, slowing down at juncitons twice. the ignition barrell is a bit dodgy and again i was told this could show signs of it becoming defunked,


can any one advise please,

Try cleaning the throttle body, if not could be a fuel problem. Is the engine hot when you say the heater isn't gettin hot? Could be your heater matrix got air trapped or maybe just knackered

Bleed the system.

Check that you have a thermostat. It's not unknown for people to remove them to mask overheating issues.

Cutting out could well be a faulty crank sender.

When it cuts out, it would be handy to know what is missing. Spark or fuel or both.
