General Proxy Alignment

Okay, been doing some searching and wanting to put upgraded speedo with rev meter etc on it!
So....... what exactly does the proxy alignment involve and how's it done?

Don't wanna take it to a dealer if it can be avoided so I wanted to know what it is they do to align it?

Speedo is dear enough on it's own to be paying same again for it to be aligned.

its more than a code reader, should only cost you about 30 quid, it makes sure your clocks and body computer are talking to each other nicely

I'm no expert but I have gleaned that the proxy alignment involves synchronising the body computer to the dash computer to ensure the CAN-bus works correctly. AFAIK you'd need a diagnostic interface that does CAN and then some software. Dealers have the software on their Examiner computer. Not sure whether there's any third party software around though.

nope the woman got annoyed with me when i told her they could do it so i didn't get that far

Im going to give them a call and try to get though to one

or go somewhere else
