Hello guys ,
A novice and a newbie in the forum .
I am currently a proud owner of A Linea t jet 125s 1.4v petrol 2016 model india version .
I need your help guys on how to protect my car from the effects of ethanol blended petrol , as per the new guidelines of Indian goverment , all the petrol available in India will be e20 that is 20% ethanol blended petrol , as per the Indian manual of linea there is not info for the ethanol blended petrol to be used or its effects and as per info obtained ethanol does effect the engine for older model cars , so what can a fiat lover like me do to protect my Italian beauty called linea .
Awaiting your positive and helpful knowledge.

I don’t think you’ll have any issues with a 2016 car, it’s only older vehicles which still have fuel systems with fragile rubber pipes etc that suffer from higher content of ethanol. I’d imagine there’s plenty of older kit in India that will have issues down the line

Thank you so , it's a big relief but by any chance can you suggest which addictive to be added in the fuel tank when we top up the fuel tank to full so that the effects of ethanol are reduced and the engine and fuel system stays clean , we get addon fuel additive in almost all petrol pumps here in India but I thinks it's only use is to add octane to the fuel system .

I’m unaware of the effects of E20 as regards to the fuel system staying clean as E10 is the normal here in the uk at the moment. Hopefully someone else can offer some more advice

Dear Coolpositiveenergy

Well come to the FF.
May I know that where are you in India and what are you doing?

Nice discussion you have triggered.
Now ahead of 10e and 20e, 27e is coming! i.e. 27 % Ethanole. Practically it ma exceed 30 % too.
Your doubt is absolutely true....
And ehtanol is an alcohol (C2H5OH). It has some corrosive properties as mostly commercial ethanol comes with 99.9 % purity, rest in it is predominantly water. It also do not have any oil type lubricating property. All these properties enhances the corrosion as well as friction. After prolonged use, it may reduce compression value as well as power of the engine. May also rise the the engine temperature as compared to that of normal fuel - Gasoline.
Needs thinking.

regards.
