General Production year vs VIN

I'm looking at an advertised car, it is supposed to be a 1968 AS with vin 1901. But from what I've found ,
1966 started with 0001;
1967 is unknown;
1968 is 5619

So it could be either a 1966 or 1967. Anyone have any ideas on which? Not that it matters much, it's early

As a guide it is possible to read the numbers on the glass of a car to age it, check sides not just windscreen as more likely to have been changed over the years. Probably have to search on the internet for around exact details. In the old days UK cars had a kitemark in a circle with dots around the edge you had to count.

That starts in 1968. However, production started in 1966. I believe that 1968 was first year of import to US. The car I'm looking at is in Italy, was always in Italy

124AS * 001358 was manufactured in 1967
124AS * 002884 was manufactured in 1967
124AS * 003357 was manufactured in 1967
124AS * 003460 was manufactured in 1968

So 1967 would seem to be the year.

It is just nonofficial data I've gathered over the years from various sources. To my knowledge it is the manufacture year. Sorry I cannot be more specific.

1969	AS	0010554	1438	124 AC.040	Carbureted	Naturally

Again this indicates a 1967 production/manufacture year as I strongly doubt 3000 AS cars were built in 1966
