Technical Problem with one of the blue keys

I have recently purchased a Marea 2.4TD and it came with 2 blue keys and the red key. The problem I have is that one of the blue keys will do everything (deactivate alarm, open doors etc) but gets no further than switching ignition on as it will not deactivate the security key symbol. Do I have to go to Fiat specialist or dealer to re-program the key? Any idea of costs?

Hi,

Basically, you will be fine as you have the important red key. The difference between the red and the blue keys is that the red key is used to make the car's immobiliser recognise other keys (for instance the blue key you have that obviously doesn't work with the immobiliser).

Spend a few minutes either with the manual or on these pages and you will find the guide on how to re-initialise the non-funtional blue key.

The exact procedure to "encode" a new blue key can be found at http://www.elecsys.com/Layouts2/Im/Code.htm

I would recommend you do that for the blue key which appears to be "not working"
