It always makes me laugh when people that participate in these events do so in the name of charity. If costs so much more to compete in than is raised. At the end of the day this is about having fun, driving hundreds of miles in an unlikely car and boasting about it in the pub. In reality this has little to do with charity. If the entrants
donated the amount of money spent on the car purchase, petrol, tax, preparation, accomodation, boat fares, train fares, tyres, food, bribes, etc, etc, etc then the charities would really be better off. As it is the
donation to charity is but a fraction of the total cost, so pull the other one.
