Looking to pressure wash around the block, seems to have had an oil leak at some point, looking a bit grubby anyway, and as I have purchased some shiny bits to go in there, would look nice it if was half decent. Anyone tried this? I know I have done this to the bike, and is fine, but mines a carb setup. Any prepping I would need to do, ie covering ect?

I did this the other day on my carburettor'd Capri's block. I taped carrier bags over all the electrical stuff (alterator, starter motor, dizzy etc) and covered the carb and air intake pipes. It helps to spray a bit of degreaser on the really manky bits first, give it a few mins to soak then blast it off. It was an absolute frigger to start afterwards (as the ignition leads were wet), so remove the ignition leads as well, make sure you've got a spare battery/jump leads/charger to hand just in case.

What JonnyBoy said, plus....

I would recommend keeping a can of WD 40 handy, and you can use kerosene/paraffin instead of expensive degreasers....use a washing-up bottle or a spray bottle if you have one...does a fine job of eating up oils, tar, etc and washes off with plain water.

Ok, thanks for the help! Lets hope it comes up a bit cleaner afterwards (and starts!)

Cheers!
