haha me too! its bloody tricky.
easier way from back in the day is to take the glass out and spray it with 20% black paint 80% laquer (and then mix that 50/50 with thinner) on the inside of the window (thats the inside, not the outside). that works a treat, and you'd think it would scratch off easily but it doesn't at all. plus tint film peels and bubbles so paint can stay in good condition longer. to do the back window just remove the tailgate and mask off the surrounding bodywork. easy peasy. and if you make a mess of it you only need some thinner to get it off and start again.
if you havent got a compressor and sprayer you could probably use that tint spray stuff in a can instead, but it'll cost way more.
