Hello I just wondered if anyone has experienced this or can help me.

My wife's fiat 500 has a power steering fault where you can be driving perfectly fine, then when your parking it will come up power steering fault consult handbook. But if you turn car off and on its fine again?

No fault codes stored either.

Any help greatly appreciated otherwise wife says its going 😂

Most of the time this happens because the power steering motor can't draw sufficient current. The current draw is highest at parking speeds.

A weak battery or corroded electrical connections (especially the earths) are by far the most common reasons this happens.

Was on it when I bought the car this year, looks new and I had it tested at sutton auto factors couple of months ago because I've been having this problem and stop start very rarely works, but my code reader says that's the gear lever position sensor, but some times get a code some times don't but tells.me on dash it it's unavailable. But the battery is a brand I've never heard off

Also if car has been sat for 3 or 4 days when yoi start oil pressure warning comes on then straight off. If car used regular doesn't do it

Id have the oil changed and the filter, buy a branded filter of better still a genuine one its only about £10, and check the oil level?
Engine earth strap check has it been replaced if not even if it looks OK replace it?
Poor battery performance could well be the issue ?

That could be a sign that a cheap oil filter has been used.

Good quality filters have an anti-drainback valve in the filter that stops oil running back into the sump when the engine is switched off.

Cheap filters may have a poor quality valve, or omit it altogether.

This means that the oil galleries need to refill each time the engine is turned on, leading to a temporary loss of oil pressure.

If it were my car, I'd do an oil & filter change now, using a decent brand of filter.

This would be my suggestion for battery 60Ah and 640cca £82 delivered

I did a service on it not long ago with a blue print filter, oil flush and oil treatment
