Hi everyone, on here in need of advice. My 2005 Scudo died on the M1 this week, I'm no mechanic but I think the fuel pump has gone, I can manually prime it and it runs for a minute or so then gone. There's a loud knocking noise from the back end too. My quandry is is it worth a repair, Ive just seen one go on ebay for just short of 2k, very similar condition.
Which is the best Forum for me to visit?
Thanks

Hi :)

I guess you mean the loud knocking is the suspension..or exhaust ?

How many miles on the vehicle..?

That will help us gauge its condition ;)

How did it breakdown..
Lose power for a few miles.. or ' just stopped'?

Had it been harder to start lately.. or was this 'out of the blue'..??

If it costs you £2000 to get a similar van
. Then its worth putting £500 into this ;)

New exhaust 3 months ago, and the knocking is there when stationary.
It started to lose power gradually so I made it to the next junction, got off the M1 and it died about a mile or so later.
The estimated mileage is around 130k, the odometer doesn't illuminate but iv'e got paperwork suggesting that when I bought it in april 2018 it had done 90k.
Had a new fuel filter fitted pretty soon after buying it as occasionally, mostly around town it feels as if it is struggling to accelerate evenly, then away it goes with a cloud of smoke behind.

So is around £500 the cost of fitting a new fuel pump?

FAR less than that..

Im just saying youve got a chance of fixing it for a 'bargain price'

Rather than having to junk it and shell out £2k

Right.. the basics

You have a 12 volt Low Pressure pump in the fuel tank..

A High Pressure pump on the engine.. driven by the engine

If its not whirring when you turn the key.. it COULD be the tank pump..
Or its not 'asking' for fuel

There is a firevprevention system that cuts power.. and a pressure sensor built into the fuel supply

Worth doing a couple of tests yourself

Have you got a 12v test meter??
