General Poorly sciento

I have a 1993 sciento which has always run well but my son took it through a big puddle in the floods and now it won't start. The battery isn't flat but when I go to turn it on it makes a whining noise and the engine won't turn over can anyone help me please?

Take the spark plugs out and see if it will turn over.

Although the whining could be the starter turning but not engaging on the flywheel, but if it has pulled in water, you'll want the plugs out to clear any water anyway.

Does the engine turn over by hand. ign off. did it run after the puddle. if engine not turning over by hand try with the spark plugs out. water in the engine is bad news as it does not compress and will bend engine parts. if it turns over by hand attention should be at the starter motor. possible bad earth to engine. seized starter motor. blown fuse . will it bump start if not seized. that should get you started forgive the pun.
