Technical Poorly Poppy

Hi everyone,

Well where to start poop Poppy, has had 8 owners and I am her latest, today she has taken unwell, Well what happened, driving along listening to Michael Buble Christmas Album ( thats not the problem ).. My temperature gauge dropped to C and EML light came on, I stopped because it's not supposed to be on checked water,oil,all fluids, wasn't overheating. Started Poppy back up and drove exceptionally careful for the last 3 miles to get home. Temp gauge seems to be ok, Turned Engine off then EML light was still on, but CODE (key symbol light up to. Turned off again CODE ( key symbol went off as it should ). She is running fine no limp mode or anything. Starts first time everytime, I am bamboozled as to what can be wrong.

Please any help or advise would be greatly appreciated please, If this has been discussed somewhere else I sincerely apoligize I am new.

sounds like an electrical blip to me,

petrol or diesel..??

any work done lately..??,

if the fluids are o.k. , and it's not smoking, etc,
the easiest thing to try is diconnect the Negative battery lead overnight, and reconnect in the morning,
that SHOULD clear the MIL ( EML),
the temp gauge could just be a symptom of a poor connection,

DO keep an eye on your fluids though..!!

if it does it again try and get the Codes read,
ask on here 1st, as somebody may be local enough to do it for free, no point payong a garage £40 for it..!!,

Hi Charlie,
Thank you so much for your reply, My brother In law is going to get the code for me tomorrow, It's a 1.2 8v ELX. He has a machine that can read give the fault code.

Work wise just had a new cambelt and waterpump fitted 4 weeks ago not long after I just got her more for piece of mind really. Hoping it is just a little blip have had a few little probs, My red steering wheel light came on other day as was turning turned engine off back on resolved problem, I have a receipt it has had a new ecu box fitted last year and is almost full service history exceot the last 15k.

Been faultless really and love the car to bits, I just need to find some enthusiasts who can tidy her up a bit as got a couple of rust bubbles coming on roof.

I will let you know what the code is tomorrow Charlie when I get car back and many many thanks for your reply.

Hi Shane,
..no problem..,
see what the code reader says..,
it couldv'e just got a dodgy wire on Temp sender..,

however the PAS thing is common with a failing battery,
see how it goes,

I WOULD ALSO CHECK THE EARTH WIRE IS TIGHT THAT CONNECTSTO THE THROTTLE BODY IN CASE THISCAUSED ATEMPORARY ECU SHUTDOWN

If the eml came on and the temperature guage drops to cold, then it says to me its a failed read of the temperature sensor
Either ecu wiring or sensor at fault


For me its more likely to be sensor / wiring

Did the engines cooling fan also kick in?

Next day i got into poppy, Everything was fine light was off, temp gauge working as should has re-occured as of yet so fingers crossed it was a little hiccup, I had drove nearly 300 miles without stop she prob got tired lol..
