Technical Pipe looks like its missing....?

Having a look at my engine and I noticed a sorta hole/fitting just above the enxhaust manifold which looks as if it should have a tube or pipe connected to it and linking to the corresponding fitting above it (about 10cm above).

I'll try and get some pics of it tomorrow, but Im just wondering if there should be something there....

I saw a mk1 punto on ebay with a pic of the engine and it too was missing this.

I spoke to someone and they said usually theres a pipe taking hot air from the manifold back into the engine to help get more efficient combustion and thats whats missing - is that right?

yeah it will be the trunking that allows the engine to draw warm air on cold running.cheap to replace
